The winter ice cuts off Svartsö, a small island in the Stockholm archipelago, leaving a few small hovercrafts as the only means of transportation to the mainland. The 10-junior high students from this small school take it twice a week to in order to attend lessons at a larger school on a nearby island. The rest of the week, they can stay at their home school thanks to remote teaching.
The schools from nearby islands have teachers specialized on different subject areas and share them. Besides having class with their own students in the physical classroom, they also teach the students at other schools through videoconference. In this way, the students have both remote teachers and classmates.
